Our Story

Our mission is simple: help every child have a safer way home to the people who love them — one child at a time.

Why Reunite Kids?

Meet Kathleen.

Kathleen is our daughter.

She was born with Cornelia de Lange syndrome (CdLS). She is hard of hearing, faces challenges most children will never know, and has taught us more about courage and perseverance than we ever thought a little girl could.

What is CDLS?

And she is happy. So incredibly happy.

Her smile fills a room. Her joy is contagious. She has faced so much, yet somehow she continues to meet the world with that beautiful smile.

“Though she be but little, she is fierce.”

— William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night’s Dream

There is a reason I carry those words tattooed over my heart. For us, that is Kathleen.

The beginning of Reunite

Love taught us what fear feels like, too.

Becoming Kathleen’s parents took us somewhere we had never expected to go. There was no handbook for this journey. We had to learn things we never imagined needing to learn.

And underneath so many beautiful moments was a fear that can be difficult to explain unless you have lived it:

What if she wanders away from us?

Kathleen cannot always tell someone who she is, where she belongs, or how to bring her back to us.

We tried the identification products that already existed. They didn’t work for her.

So we made something that did: a tiny QR pin attached to the hair bows she had worn since she was little. Something familiar. Something she would actually wear.

Safety should adapt to the child — not the other way around.

And from that little pin came NexoProof Reunite Kids.

One child at a time.

No parent should have to live with the fear that their child may not find their way home.

We cannot reach every child today. But we can reach one. And then another. And another.

One child at a time.
